History
“If you don't know history, then you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree.” Michael Crichton

The History Curriculum will inspire in pupils a respect, curiosity and fascination about Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It will equip pupils with knowledge and curiosity about the history of Britain and how it has influenced, and been influenced by, the wider world.

The Bishopswood Historian will know and understand significant aspects of the history of the wider world; recognise changes in and beyond living memory; learn about the lives of significant people of the past; understand methods of historical enquiry and be able to ask and answer questions.

The Bishopswood Historian will:

Ask relevant questions and plan how and where to research the answers

Locate, sort, classify, sequence, compare and contrast relevant information and evidence.

Use their historical knowledge in different contexts to make connections and notice trends

Make judgements, decisions and opinions informed by reason and information

Know how to use and interpret a range of historical sources

The Roadmap shows the journey that our children take as they progress through the history curriculum in our school. Our History curriculum is progressive, broad and engaging.
